INTRODUCTION

During 2006, CBCC launched its innovative Christian Enrichment Center. The CEC concept is to offer a selection of Adult Christian Education Courses during a four or six-week semester on Thursday evenings. We engage professionals, scholars, and theologians to guide, teach and instruct. Most lectures are available on DVD. We preview and carefully select every presentation. The current CEC leadership consists of Dr. Albert Gordon; Vern Clobes; Carl Witlicki; Dr. Fred Fourie; Coleman Todd; Dorothy Copeland; Jeri Laufenberg and Joyce Stottler. After each presentation, course facilitators lead the discussion and respond to questions. There is also time to enjoy refreshments and fellowship.

FALL 2008 PROGRAM

The CBCC (UCC) Christian Enrichment Center is preparing for a great Fall Six-Week Semester. The dates and times scheduled for Thursday evenings beginning are October 9 and ending November 13, 2008.

We encourage first time CEC students to sign up for THE HISTORY OF THE BIBLE. The making of the New Testament Canon as taught on DVD by the internationally known and respected New Testament scholar Professor Bart D. Ehrman. Our Minister, Dr. Fred Fourie will present and lead the discussions.

Dr. Albert Gordon, will present and lead the discussions ECLIPSING THE EMPIRE, Paul, Rome and the Kingdom of God. Students can join preeminent scholars Marcus Borg and John Dominic Crossan on location in Turkey as they trace the Apostle's footsteps throughout the Roman Empire. Fresh insights into Paul's message of the Kingdom of God, its challenge to Roman imperial theology and the apostle's radical relevance for today. We strongly recommend this course for students who have previously attended Dr. Gordon's popular "Living the Questions Series."

Christian Education Director, Coleman Todd will present and lead discussions on Dr. Marcus Borg's DVD presentation ~ Experiencing the Bible for the First Time. Marcus Borg states, "It is about being informed and shaped on the inside by what one learns."

1. Grow in our faith by studying the Scriptures, their background, and origins.
2. Study and discuss our beliefs so that we can tell other of our beliefs.
3. Explore the implications of our faith to the world around us.
4. Study other religions so that we have a better understanding of their beliefs.
5. Learn how modern theologians discuss our Church's message.
6. Learn about the life of Christ and the influential leaders of the early Church.
7. Discover new ways to engage in spiritual experiences.
